The first (semi-annual) SouthEastern Photowalk is coming this October to Greenwood, Mississippi, hosted by Ashleigh B. Coleman and Ray Larose.

Date / Time

Saturday October 28, 2017 / 2:00-5:00 pm

About SEWLK

SEWLK is a social get-together twice a year in various scenic Southeastern cities and towns to exchange ideas, take photos and have a good time. For this round we will be meeting up in Greenwood at 2:00 pm. The walk will take us up and down the streets and back roads of Greenwood, Mississippi.  Casual shoes are sufficient.

SEWLK - Ashleigh B. Coleman

Lodging is on your own.

What gear to bring? It doesn’t matter what you use – large format, medium, small, film, digital, pinhole, cellphone, etc. – all are welcome and we encourage diversity! The best part of these walks is talking about our various equipment; likes, dislikes, quirks and so on. As an FYI - a handful of us will be shooting 35mm B&W film, just because - but you can shoot anything you like.

Dinner is going to be at Lusco’s (menu) and we are meeting there around 5/5:30 pm. A reservation will be made.

Getting Here

We will be meeting in Greenwood at 2:00 pm sharp at the bridge over the Yalobusha River on Fulton Street. There is plenty of free parking in Greenwood for those driving up for the day.

Where to stay? Some will be staying in Greenwood at The Alluvian, others will be staying at the Tallahatchie Flats, and some just traveling for the day. You have a ton of options, but I'd start looking soon as place book up fast. There is also the option of going in on an AirBnB Plantation house-- let me know soon, if you’d like more information on that.

Things To Do

If you decide to come, I would encourage you to add on a couple days to explore the Delta, which is rich in history.  You can visit Turnrow Books, eat at Doe’s, snag some Mississippi pottery, explore the Delta Blues trail (here is an example, but you are create your own tour) or just drive through tiny hamlets-- Midnight, Panther Burn, Itta Bena.

Sponsored by Richard Photo Lab

Like all #NEWLK's, this walk is sponsored by our good friends at Richard Photo Lab. This year, we'll even have Albany Katz coming down from the lab to walk with us!
